1980s = 300+ Disability Carriers, Today = Less than 35!

When I started in the disability insurance industry in the 1980′s, there were more than 300 disability insurance carriers.  Today there are less than 35! This emphasizes the importance of the Quality of Carrier when choosing a disability insurance product.

Additionally, the definition of “Own Occupation” within your policy will protect what you do specifically as the main part of your bread-winning function.  For instance, if you are a surgeon, it protects your ability to perform surgery.
